Mobile Friendly

I love how romantic this trailer home looks. I don't know if I could live in it but I love the idea of it. I think that the portability of the home would make me feel unstable. I do like, however that it would make you think about what possessions are important to you and what ones aren't since you couldn't fit a lot in there. Did you know trailer homes were invented in the states and were inspired by gypsy caravans and traveling circus troops? I thought that was interesting.

High Land

Celtic Inspiration

I have been so happy about how my Winter Fest fashion show turned out that I am inspired to do another one. I have been thinking about doing something with a Celtic - Highland feel. I have never cared much for plaids and tartans but all of a sudden I am super into them and interested in mixing them with unexpected pieces like furs. For me, the key part of the show is the song. I need a song that has a lot of energy (not necessarily fast or loud). If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them :) Otherwise stay tuned for the next show!

This Song is close but lacks the energy I am looking for....

Conversation Starters

From the Movie "Beginners" with Ewan McGregor

I'm not someone who talks a lot but I love people who do. I tend to be surrounded by them. I think conversation is an art and I love watching the back and forths of conversations. I don't know if there is much great conversation out there but fortunately my boyfriend is an amazing conversationalist so I am always being exposed to it. I also love when people just start conversations out of the blue with strangers.

I tend to wear at least one item that really stands out and I often get people coming up to me to compliment me and ask where I got

it from. The other day I was shoveling the snow off my car (yes literally shoveling) and this jogger ran by me and yelled "I love your coat where did you get it?" Even though this isn't really a conversation I love that clothing can be a way to start a conversation. I picked some pieces from the store to show you some of our "conversation starters."

The Apple of your Eye

I was trying to figure out what to blog about today and decided on a post about menswear, when I realized it was The Eye of Faith's shop birthday! Happy Birthday!!!!

For those of you who don't know, a year back I invited Aaron and Paul of The Eye of Faith to come open up a vintage shop in my basement. They have a strong focus on eclectic amazing menswear but they also carry crazy awesome womenswear. And if you ever meet them ask them to dress you!

Bringing them into the store is the best decision I made for the shop. Not only have they added so much to the store but also to my life. They brighten my day every time I come in. The thing I love most about them is that they are not afraid to go all the way. Whether it's with an outfit, a piece they are sewing or drawing. They never do things half way.

Winter Cozy

 Cozy Winter Space.

Today, I woke up a little sad. It wasn't a depressed sadness. It was more that I woke up and realized that I deny a lot of things that I'm feeling and so I felt sad that I do that to myself. During the winter months, I love waking up cozy in my bed especially if it's just snowed. I feel so safe and cozy knowing that its so warm inside and cold outside. I don't know why its so comforting to me but it is. I know that most hate the winter but I find it's the perfect time of year. It slows everything and everyone down. I find I do the most reflecting than any of the other seasons, hence the sadness this morning. It's also the time when I look at things that are hard to look. I wonder if that's why some of us fear the winter because its hard to stop and look at things.

Flo Mania

Boho Ethereal

I don't know what it is about flowers but I am a total sucker for them. Every time I see flowers, in a photo, on a piece of clothing or in a store...I can't resist. Anyways I found some fun facts about flowers that I thought I would share:

Fun Fact 1# Roses are related to apples, raspberries, cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines, pears and almonds..... WTF?!

Fun Fact 2# Tulip bulbs were more valuable than gold in Holland in the 1600s.... In some way I wish this was still true ;)

Fun Fact 3# Tulip Bulbs can be substituted for onions in a recipe.... What the hell is with these tulip bulbs!!!

Fun Fact 4# The largest flower in the world is the titan arums, which produce flowers 10 feet high and 3 feet wide. The flowers smell of decaying flesh and are also known as corpse flowers.... Ok this one is creepy sorry!

Fun Fact 5# Dandelions might seem like weeds, but the flowers and leaves are a good source of vitamins A and C, iron, calcium and potassium. One cup of dandelion greens provides 7,000-13,000 I.U. of vitamin A.... Good to know.

Ok. I am going to stop.

It seems flowers are magical or at least extremely useful. Maybe my obsession is warranted given that some of them are nutritious and can ward off everything with their horrible corpse smells!!!
